The Ministry of Antiquities is seeking the establishment of an antiquities restoration facility with the aid of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). To proceed with the venture, minister Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim had a meeting with Daniel Vinod, director of the Culture Heritage and Science Projects at the Australian Museum.
Vinod disclosed the full program for the restoration facility, which includes a work timetable spanning the time until the museum’s planned launching in 2015.
One of the prject’s targets is to develop into a local restoration centre. Moreover, the centre will work on recording and restoring all the items obtained by the Grand Egyptian Museum for its inaguaration.
In the upcoming years, the centre will turn into an international teaching institute for training archaeological restoration along with promoting research relevant to it. Nevertheless, concern is at the moment being granted to the Grand Egyptian Museum displays.
The centre will be comparable to the restoration centre in Singapore, which was seen by the Egyptian staff in September 2012.
