CAIRO – 28 April 2020: Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al Sisi ordered Tuesday, providing all needed medical supplies to the quarantine and isolation hospitals all over the country.
According to presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady, Sisi followed up with latest updates regarding workflow inside of the isolation hospitals, during a video conference meeting with number of the hospital’s directors.
Sisi described the hospitals as one of the state’s main pillars to combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
Sisi expressed appreciation and pride regarding the huge efforts made by the medical staff working in these hospitals during such exceptional time.
According to the statement, the meeting included directors of hospitals of: Agouza, Sheikh Zayed, 15 May, Abu Khalifa, Esna, and Ain Shams. Attended the meeting also Egypt’s minster of Health Hala Zayed and Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar along with the President’s Advisor for Health Affairs, Mohamed Awad Taj Eddin.
Egypt recorded, Tuesday new 260 coronavirus, COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths, raising the total number of infections in Egypt to 5.042 and the total deaths to 359 according to the daily briefing of the ministry of health.
The ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed explained that all new recorded patients during the past 24 hours are Egyptians.
According to the statement, out of 1,669 patients confirmed to be negative; 1304 were discharged from the hospital after being completely recovered.
All positive cases are placed under quarantine at isolation hospitals, the spokesman said.
Minster Hala Zayed urged any citizen who feels the virus symptoms to head to the nearest hospital to be tested along with preserving the social distance and abiding by the precautionary procedures imposed by the government.
Since mid-March, Egypt has taken certain strict measures to protect the public from the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The government has taken gradual steps in dealing with the coronavirus spread, starting with suspending schools and universities, and international flights.
Furthermore, a night-time curfew has been imposed since March 24, 2020. Additionally, the Ministry of Awqaf [Endowment] extended the closure of the mosques and the places of worship nationwide until further notice.
