CAIRO – 7 February 2020: Argentina achieved a 2-1 victory over Colombia on Friday to win 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament and secure one of the two spots for South American teams at the Olympics.
Argentina opened the score at the first five minutes of the second half through Agustin Urzi and three minutes later Patricio Perez doubled the score for La Albicelestes.
Edwuin Cetre scored a goal for Colombia from the penalty spot after 70 minutes but Los Cafeteros failed to equalize the score at the remaining minutes.
Argentina won the tournament after achieving their second win at the final stage while Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia will battle for the other ticket.
The 10 South American teams took part in the early stage of the qualifiers, which see the teams divided into two groups.
Argentina and Colombia secured the top two spots of Group A while Brazil and Uruguay secured the top two spots at Group B to advance to the final stage.
Colombia and Uruguay, with one point each, will meet at Estadio Alfonso López in Colombia while Argentina will face Brazil, who gained two points from two draws, at the last final stage game.
